1 Language

BA (Hons) Modern Language Studies
LLB (Hons) Law with Spanish

The following degrees have been withdrawn for September 2012 entry:

  • BA (Hons) Modern Language Studies with TESOL
  • BA (Hons) Politics and Arabic
  • BA (Hons Linguistics with a Foreign Language
  • BA (Hons) Arabic / English Translation and Interpreting

If you are interested in Linguistics/Modern Language Studies and TESOL, please apply to the new generic programme BA Linguistics that allows you to choose TESOL options as well as study a language in years 2 & 3 under the University –Wide language Programme.

If you are interested in combining Politics with Arabic/French/Spanish or EFL please apply to the generic Modern Language Studies programme that incorporates politics modules as well as the study of one language either at post A-level (also open to native speakers of the language) or as a beginner. EFL can only be chosen by foreign speakers. This programme includes a placement year abroad in year 3.

If you are interested in combining Translation and Interpreting with Arabic /English please apply to the NEW BA in Translation and Interpreting programme.

 

2 Languages

BA (Hons) in Modern Languages
BA (Hons) in Modern Languages & Translation and Interpreting Studies

The following degrees have been withdrawn for September 2012 entry:

  • BA (Hons) in Modern Languages with TESOL

If you are interested in studying Modern Languages and TESOL, please apply to the new generic programme BA Modern Languages that allows you to choose Linguistics and TESOL options as well as study two European languages (also EFL if you are a foreign speaker). This programme includes a placement year abroad in year 3.

If you are interested in combining Translation and Interpreting with Arabic /English please apply to the generic BA in Translation and Interpreting programme.
The new BA in Translation and Interpreting programme allows you to study two languages (Arabic, Chinese, French, German, Italian, Spanish (and EFL if you are a foreign speaker) either at post A-level (also open to native speakers of the language) or as a beginner. Chinese can only be studied as ab initio. Chinese and Arabic can only be combined with French or Spanish. This programme includes a placement year abroad in Year 3 in one or two countries depending on the languages studied.

3 Languages

The following degrees have been withdrawn for September 2012 entry:

  • BA (Hons.) in European Languages

If you are interested in studying three Languages, please apply to the new generic programme BA Modern Languages that allows you to study two main European languages (also EFL if you are a foreign speaker) and choose to study in Years 2 and 3 a third language under the University Wide Language Programme. This programme includes a placement year abroad in year 3 in one or two countries depending on the languages studied.

BA (Hons) Linguistics

  • BA (Hons) Linguistics with TESOL

If you are interested in studying Modern Languages and Linguistics, please apply to the new generic programme BA Modern Languages that allows you to choose Linguistics options as well as study two European languages (also EFL if you are a foreign speaker). This programme includes a placement year abroad in year 3.

If you are interested in studying Linguistics and TESOL, please apply to the new generic programme BA Linguistics that allows you to choose both Linguistics and TESOL module options.
