We welcome applications from students wishing to work towards research degrees in the following areas of Translation and Interpreting Studies and Intercultural Studies.

 

Translation & Interpreting Studies

    • Textual approaches to translation
    • The translation and interpreting processes
    • The sociology of translation/interpreting
    • The history of translation
    • Genre-specific translation studies (for instance the translation of literature/drama/scientific discourse/political discourse/audiovisual translation)
    • Translation and ideology
    • Postcolonial translation studies
    • The pedagogy of translation/interpreting;contrastive linguistics and translation
    • Terminology and translation

Intercultural Studies

    • Literary studies with reference to Arabic, Chinese, French, German, Italian and Spanish
    • Italian cinema
    • French politics and contemporary history
    • Comparative social policies.
