This is for you if
- you are a University of Salford student that is interested in developing your language skills in your spare time (rather than on the University-wide Language Programme for credits on your programme of study)
- you are a member of University of Salford staff, graduate or a member of the public
- you are planning a trip abroad for work or a holiday and want to be able to communicate when you are there
What language can I study?
- Complete beginner’s classes are usually available in the following languages: Arabic, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Mandarin Chinese and Spanish.
- The following languages can usuallybe studied at a higher level, to build on the skills you already have: French, German, Italian and Spanish.
- English as a foreign language is also available to study. The level of English taught in these classes will vary depending upon the level of students attending. Please note these classes will be taught in English and students will need to have a suffient level of English to follow the lessons.
- If the language you would like to learn isn't on our list, please let us know, as we may still be able to arrange tuition for you.

What will I get?
- Classes last for one hour at lunchtime or two hours in the early evening, once a week for ten weeks each semester.
- Emphasis is on practical communication skills in all languages
How much does it cost?
Fees for all courses are shown below.
University of Salford students, members of staff and graduates are entitled to a reduced course fee.
The fee for lunchtime classes is £75 per semester
(£55 for students and staff)
The fee for evening classes is £130 per semester
(£95 for students and staff)
All fees are payable in advance.
Special Offer
Students that enrolled on a course starting in semester one and subsequently wish to carry on with their language studies will be eligible for a 20% discount on the prices above for semester two classes when they are booked during weeks four to eight of semester one.
