English as a Foreign Language Section
What is the EFL Section?
We are an academic teaching section providing a range of practical
English language courses which are of direct use to students and to the general public. We also
teach study skills to international and to British students. We work closely with the other schools
of the University and also with other education institutions around the world who send students to
Salford on exchange programmes or to study English with us.
The section has a number of active researchers whose work covers areas of pedagogical-based

We are located at the very heart of the University, in the main Maxwell Building. Those who study
with us become fully registered students of the University of Salford and enjoy all its facilities.
